Devotional – 0 Introduction – Prelude

Devotional???s Prelude ??? the ???Converted Rabbi??? [DG]

The following fifty short chapter fictional is intended to take the story and mix it with scripture. I thought about some of the parables in the bible; those each had an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. Then I thought about the word allegory; a story with the narrative used to convey a truth. Something to keep the interest of the reader and still sharing a little of the meaning or the context behind the scripture.

Scripture is the inspired Word that God has given man so we have a base to follow as a daily, weekly, and a lifetime pattern, in hopes of pleasing our creator. There is a challenge to this statement in that God is HOLY and sinless. Our standard is CHRIST not our Neighbor, or our Preacher, or the President. It is like if I compare myself to Hitler; I???m not so bad but I still fall short of the intended goal from our creator, God.

Peter, the Apostle, tells that the Word written by the different authors, who were filled with the Spirit of God; were chosen to pen the specific scripture that was given to each of them. God is therefore the author of the scriptures.?? 2 Peter 1:20-21 and it???s also over in the letter 2 Timothy 3:16-17 written by the Apostle Paul.

So in the words of my Pastor; ???Scripture says what it means and it means what it says???. I may use this phrase a few times throughout this Booklet of Devotionals; it is a truth to all of us; all of the time.

Using one of my study bibles, the NASB Version, there are some cross references to many of the verses used in the story, which helps me interpret the intended meaning. One sentence taken out of context in a paragraph might sound good but what is scripture trying to convey? Most chapters will have scripture available as an attachment to save time for the reader looking it up in their own bible.

The character names have no connection to the stories; just names I pulled out of my character list. Those who attended high school with me will recognize a few. Some of the characters may have some good days and some may have some not so good days; just like life.

Yosef, the Chaplin, is the first character. It is the Jewish spelling for Joseph from way back in the day. Joseph as an example, was the earthly dad of Jesus, as he grew up in Nazareth. This fella???, Yosef, in the devotionals was a young Rabbi, converted to being a messianic Christian. In addition to this short story there is also a separate link to ???dale.garriotte.com??? where the same basic individual stories can be found; the book is the latest edit. The Devotionals can be accessed from an IPAD or your computer using ???Word???, and read or shared with a group.

A friend asked me, ???Why did you take the time to write all of this; isn???t there plenty of books that people can purchase???? They are right, but I do it unto the Lord; I???m not looking for payment for doing what I feel I should already be doing.

If I found the richest gold mine and if I wanted to share it with all who I knew; I???m sure all would be interested. What I have to share is more precious than a gold mine. If any of my friends find the streets of gold in heaven they will have found eternal wealth.

FYI, there is no copyright on this so you can share it with a friend. This story will end with fifty chapters. It will be in DRAFT format so I can make changes at my whim.

FYI ??? I am both writer and editor so if grammar or spelling is wrong, it was me.

Edits will happen periodically.

Note ??? I have no intent in trying to cram this story down anyone???s throat, so to speak; I invite you to read it and judge for yourself if there is a message in it for you or a friend; if you want to share it.

Scripture reference

2 Peter 1:20-21, ?????????????????? But??know this first of all, that??no prophecy of Scripture is??a matter??of one???s own interpretation,??21??for??no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men??moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.?? [The words in scripture are inspired from the Spirit of God; scripture is the story or commandments that God wants mankind to know so that we have a guide for living a fruitful life.]

2 Timothy 3:16-17,???????? ??All Scripture is??inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for??training in righteousness;??17??so that??the man of God may be adequate,??equipped for every good work. [Who was it that had the Holy Spirt inspiring them?] ??? [Ans. – The author of each book of the Christian Bible]

Romans 11:13, ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as??I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, [the Apostle Paul writing to the Gentiles in Rome who are now believers of Christ].???? One mystery to the N.T. scriptures is that God now includes we who are Gentiles; non-Jews.
