BS-49 ‘Jesus, the Christ is God, the Son’
The Deity of Christ Jesus (Only God can claim DEITY.)
Just as my BS-6 talks about Jesus; this too is a reminder of who HE is.
John 1:1. In the beginning (before creation; as we read about it.) was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Jesus, and apart from Jesus nothing came into being that has come into being. (The Father & the Son, PLURAL, created man in their image) 4 In Jesus was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
* Only Christians live in the LIGHT; Heathen live in spiritual darkness.
The Witness is John the Baptist
6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8 John was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9 There was the true Light (Jesus) which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own (the Jews), and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe (and TRUST) in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
The Word Made Flesh
14 And the Word (Jesus) became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” 16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. (John was 6 months older than Jesus and a relative).
The Apostle John, who wrote this Gospel, walked and talked with Jesus for 3 years; he was one of the closest of the disciples and provides insight into the Deity of Jesus.
The Incomparable Christ
Colossians 1:13. For He (Father God) rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son (Jesus), 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
15 He (Jesus, the Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Jesus and for Him. 17 Jesus is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (molecules-He is a scientist). 18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19 For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. 21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, 22 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.
The Apostle Paul was a Jewish Pharisee, a Rabbi, who had been taught all of the Mosaic LAWS and ways. He wrote a dozen Epistles after his conversion to the ‘New’ covenant truths, which was & is provided thru the atonement of blood shed by Christ.
Paul was given the task, by the Lord, to minister and preach to Gentiles since the Sons of Israel were having a challenge with trusting in Christ. They were hard hearted and wanted to continue in the Mosaic LAW, which became obsoleted when Christ attained High Priest status.
Hebrews 1:1-14. God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He (Father God) appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He (Jesus) is the radiance of His (Father God) glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He (Jesus) had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.
The person at the right hand of HIS MAJESTY has ALL the power.)
5 For to which of the angels did He ever say, “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? (What does begotten mean? Do you have a thought?)
And again, “I will be a Father to Him And He shall be a Son to Me”? 6 And when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says, “And let all the angels of God worship Him.” 7 And of the angels He says, “Who makes His angels winds,
And His ministers a flame of fire.” (Ps. 104:4)
8 But of the Son He says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, (Ps 45:6)
And the righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom. 9 “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God (Jesus), Your God, (Father God) has anointed You With the oil of gladness above Your companions.” 10 And, “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the works of Your hands; (Ps. 102:25) 11 They will perish, but You remain; And they all will become old like a garment, 12 And like a mantle You will roll them up; Like a garment they will also be changed. (Ps. 102:26-27) But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end.” (He is Eternal)
13 But to which of the angels has He ever said, “Sit at My right hand, Until I make Your enemies A footstool for Your feet”? (Ps. 110:1) 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
The writer of Hebrews is someone who knows scripture and has been around the disciples. The study of Hebrews is insight like we all need. READ IT.!
John 3:1-8. Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (A person must be BORN twice or they will DIE twice)
The spiritual BIRTH is what will get a person into heaven, nothing else.
John 3:16-17. “For (the Father) God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son; that whoever TRUST in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. (thru Christ Jesus.)
Trusting in and accepting Jesus as Lord & Savior is an open invitation to ALL. It has to happen while a person is alive (breathing & heart beating) otherwise Judgement will be an awful time to realize that you don’t get a do-over. It does not take a Rocket Scientist to use words like, “Forgive me Lord Jesus of my sins; I trust you as my Savior.” What did the one thief on the cross do? TRUSTED.
Father God; who is HE?
John 4:23-24. 23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Father God is Omnipresent – everywhere because HE is Spirit.)
Colossians 1:15. 15 Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by ‘Jesus, the Christ’ all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Christ and for Him.
1 Timothy 1:17. 17 Now to the King (The Apostle talking about Jesus, the Christ as GOD) eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
John 14:16. 16 I (Christ) will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (Holy Spirit) abides with you and will be in you. (at conversion)
John 14:28. 28 You heard that I (Christ) said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
John 16:28. 28 I (Christ) came forth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the world again and going to the Father.”
We have a triune God; Father – Son – Holy Spirit.
I am just the mailman; I’m delivering the ‘good news’.
